Environment issuesShare our concerns about the environment

Kafévend makes every effort to make sure that the products we offer have a minimal impact on the environment. From ensuring that plastic cups in coffee machines can be recycled effectively, to introducing new machines with improved insulation to cut their energy consumption. And naturally we comply fully with all applicable laws and regulations.

We also ensure that the machines we supply use the best available technology in all stages of production. This in turn ensures significant savings of energy and other resources as well as a reduction in waste.

One of our main suppliers, Kenco, is fully committed to the Rain Forest Alliance program as a route to sustainable coffee production. This offers economical benefits such as ensuring workers receive better rates of pay: farmers are able to command up to 20% more than the market price for certified coffee, and improves the livelihoods for 100,000 farmers.

There are also environmental benefits: ensuring protection of endangered species, pollution control, soil and water conservation, control and reduction of agrochemical use, better waste management and helping to conserve 25,000 hectares of native forest.

The social benefits include ensuring better conditions, treatment and pay for workers, co-operative production, processing and marketing and more community involvement.

Turn your cups into pencils!

Choose a Klix in-cup machine and you can join the ‘cups into pencils’ scheme whereby your used cups are collected from you and turned into pencils! It’s a great way to deal with your empty cups and a great way to recycle at the same time. Companies joining demonstrate a strong committment to the environmental values and ethnical business practices.

Please contact Save-A-Cup if you wish yo arrange collections of cups to be recycled and for details of how to buy a cup shredder. Telephone 01494 510167 or visit www.save-a-cup.co.uk.
